Menswear Trend S/S 2013 : Long Jacket

Lanvin

Whatever it take, the weather forecast  or really short trousers, to make the previously ordinary jacket seem not long enough for Spring/Summer 2013, it totally stirred huge wave of long-outerwear for summer ; long- jacket, long-brazer, long-pea coat or long-wind jacket, all the longgggg way from Milan to Paris.

Jil Sander

The obvious highlight of the trend was the first look from Jil Sander which was anticipated show from original designer of the house since she left 9 years ago. Every media concentrated the first photo of brand and the first one was remarkable . it evoked everyone in the show with a new length-proportion and stated glorious comeback of Jil Sander. Clean and very modern were defined as brand’s DNA and marked a path to later show for being familiar to the trend.

Prada

Dior Homme

Most of shows presented this proportion from trendsetter, Prada,  delivered vintage-sporty feeling to Dior Homme which showed clean and delicate navy-theme. My personal favorite is ” Le Petit Prince” from Carven. They are very flashy, bubbly and innocent but  really sharp in color’s combination and the proportions are right for me, so adorable.

I like your observation on long jackets…I noticed it as well. Of all the ones I saw, my favorite was the Prada outfit. I also loved the Balenciaga. The Givenchy one was of interest to me because it had a middle-eastern feel to me. Great collection of photos. It sometimes seems like an incestuous design environment…how else could so many designers come up with the same style.

Thank you for your intest to my article :). In my opinion, I think Men’s trend is quite narrow than Womenswear. Only just past few years that menswear are liberated but there are few styling that really practical, long jacket is acceptable, i guess.

However, There are some research institue which most of fashion house are their clients. They predict major trends of style, fabric and color scheme for their client’s design team . Most of their research were collaborated with leading fabric manufacturer in the world for generating demand of specific fabric that manufacturer are going to develop or produce. So, it is quite make sense that why every houses suddenly focus on one style throughout the industry. 🙂
